Kingsmeadow School - Gateshead

Kingsmeadow is an 11-16 school in Dunston, close to the A1 and Metro Centre.   

The school was opened in 1990 on the site of Dunston Comprehensive School when Saltwell Senior High, Hillhead Junior High and Dunston Comp were amalgamated. 

We are a rapidly expanding and improving school (say OfStEd and the statistics) who offer a wide and varied curriculum.

The name 'Kingsmeadow'comes from an island in the Tyne which was dredged away in the 19th Century to allow the big coal ships up the river.

The school serves the communities of Dunston, Lobley Hill, Swalwell, Winlaton, Teams and Bensham.

We currently have 857 pupils, 55 teaching and 21 non-teaching staff.
